DAM vendors: the DAMSelection directory of 30 platforms

Short answer

The DAMSelection vendor directory lists 30 DAM vendors in five segments: enterprise content platforms, brand and marketing DAM, product content and commerce, European specialists and open source. As of 15 October 2026, all 30 vendors have a dated facts file with a source URL for every value. Profiles show "Not verified" where no source exists, and scores appear only after scripted demo evidence.

Star marks a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Digital Asset Management Systems, Q1 2026. Segments are the DAMSelection classification.

How the five DAMSelection segments differ

The five DAMSelection segments differ by buyer, by pricing model and by the effort needed to go live. Each vendor sits in one segment, and the segment is the first filter for a longlist.

SegmentVendorsWho it servesTypical pricing archetype (from facts files)Typical implementation effort (DAMSelection assessment)
Enterprise content platforms7Global organisations with many brands, regions and integrationsMostly quote-based, often by user type or module; OpenText, Orange Logic and Tenovos publish reference pricesHighest: a multi-team programme with integration work
Brand and marketing DAM11Marketing and brand teams that need fast adoption and brand portalsMostly quote-based; Air, Dash and Extensis Portfolio publish prices, and Canto shows one AWS Marketplace offerLowest to medium: configuration-led, few integrations
Product content, packaging and commerce6Product content, packaging artwork, e-commerce imagery, tight PIM linksMixed: edition entitlements, open core, quote-based, a marketplace offer and credit plansMedium to high: driven by PIM and channel integration
European specialists5Buyers who weigh data residency, local support and industries such as publishingQuote-based for all fiveMedium: depends on editorial or PIM integration
Open source1Teams that accept hosting and implementation responsibility in return for no licence feeFree software, with hosting or support quotedVariable: the buyer or a partner owns hosting and upgrades

Fact: in the enterprise segment, Adobe sells AEM Assets in Prime and Ultimate tiers by Power, Collaborator and Limited user types, and Aprimo quotes by users and modules. In the product segment, Salsify publishes edition entitlements without prices, and Pimcore Community is free for organisations under EUR 5 million annual revenue. ResourceSpace has no software licence fee, and Montala quotes its hosted plans.

Forrester named five directory vendors Leaders in The Forrester Wave: Digital Asset Management Systems, Q1 2026: Adobe, Aprimo, Bynder, OpenText and Orange Logic. Four sit in the enterprise segment and Bynder in brand and marketing DAM.

How to use the directory to build a longlist

The directory builds a longlist in five filters, and the shortlisting guide cuts it to a scripted demo shortlist. DAMSelection rule of thumb: aim for 6 to 10 vendors on the longlist and 3 to 5 on the shortlist. Work through the filters in order, because each one removes vendors the next filter would waste time on.

  1. Pick one or two segments that match your buyer profile, using the segment table.
  2. Filter on hosting and data residency. Remove vendors whose documented regions do not meet your policy.
  3. Check PIM connector depth for your PIM in the PIM and DAM Fit Map.
  4. Read the pricing archetype and watch-outs on each profile, then model five-year cost in the TCO calculator.
  5. Compare your list with the scenario shortlists, such as CPG packaging or media and publishing, and the head-to-head comparisons.

The DAM selector runs the first three filters as a questionnaire. DAMSelection assessment: design the metadata model before step 4, because the metadata model decides DAM success and shapes every demo script.

What a profile contains and how verification works

A vendor profile contains a Passport card of verified facts, three strengths, three watch-outs, AI capabilities, pricing, integrations and ownership history. Every value carries a source URL that a research agent opened, and the profile shows the date of the last check.

The Passport card holds 11 verified fields:

  • Vendor legal entity, parent company, headquarters and founding year.
  • Deployment model, hosting regions and data residency options.
  • Security certifications and pricing archetype.
  • Native PIM connectors and native creative tool connectors.

Verification follows three rules. A field without a primary source shows "Not verified", and DAMSelection never fills it from memory. Strengths and watch-outs come in equal numbers, each tied to a documented fact. Scores stay at "Scoring pending" until the vendor runs the buyer's scripted scenarios, as set out in the scoring method.

Verification status on 15 October 2026

Verification covers all 30 vendors, with uneven depth. Sixteen facts files fill all six core Passport fields for parent, hosting, residency, certifications, pricing and PIM connectors: Acquia DAM, Adobe AEM Assets, Bynder, Canto, Celum, Cloudinary, Fotoware, Frontify, MediaValet, OpenText, Papirfly, Pimcore, ResourceSpace, Sitecore Content Hub, Wedia and WoodWing Assets.

Hosting regions and data residency are the fields most often shown as Not verified.

What the research found across vendors

The research across 30 facts files found four patterns. Investor ownership and renames are common, and EU hosting options are widespread with uneven documentation. List prices are rare, and most PIM connectors come from someone other than the DAM vendor.

Ownership: private equity, acquisitions and renames

Investor ownership is the norm in the directory: at least 17 of the 30 facts files name a private equity or growth equity firm as owner or investor. Several vendors also grew through acquisition or changed owner during a typical contract term.

Renames follow the deals. Fotoware renamed its products Fotoware Veloz and Fotoware Alto in 2025. Wedia markets its DAM as Lyvio, and Sitecore markets Content Hub DAM as SitecoreAI DAM. WoodWing Assets carried the names Elvis DAM and Swivle first, and inMotionNow rebranded as Lytho in 2021.

Independent ownership is rarer. Celum describes itself as bootstrapped, Montala, maker of ResourceSpace, is employee-owned, and Adobe and OpenText are publicly listed. Listed owners also sell assets: OpenText has sold eDOCS and Vertica since August 2025 and gives no status for its DAM line. DAMSelection assessment: put a change-of-control clause in every DAM contract.

Hosting and data residency

EU hosting is available from most vendors, and the depth of hosting documentation varies widely. Three patterns appear in the facts files.

  • EU by default or EU-only: Celum hosts on Azure in Amsterdam by default, Wedia states EU-only hosting, Papirfly hosts on AWS in Sweden and Keepeek on a French private cloud. Dash hosts live assets only in AWS EU (Ireland), with backups in Stockholm.
  • EU as a selectable option: Bynder offers EU-only hosting in Frankfurt, Canto lets the customer pick an AWS region, Acquia DAM offers EU regions on opt-in, and Frontify offers Frankfurt to enterprise customers. MediaValet lets the customer pick the Azure region, Sitecore stores data in the region chosen at onboarding, and Scaleflex runs each tenant on the cloud the customer selects. WoodWing Cloud hosts each customer in one chosen region: Frankfurt, Northern Virginia or Sydney. OpenText Private Cloud names data centres in the UK, Germany and France.
  • US-documented or customer-run: Salsify hosts PXM on AWS in the USA. Cloudinary stores data in the US by default and offers EU storage to Enterprise customers on request. Extensis Portfolio documents no vendor-hosted SaaS, and ResourceSpace's hosted plans run in London.

Several vendors leave the region unnamed. Aprimo's trust centre states no hosting regions, Fotoware names Azure regions for Veloz only, and Orange Logic leaves residency to the storage location the customer selects. Air names AWS for storage and backups without a region, and Tenovos and censhare name no hosting region on the pages DAMSelection opened.

Pricing transparency

List prices are rare in the directory: 19 of the 30 facts files record a quote-based model with no published price. Five vendors publish list prices:

  • Air lists Starter at 25 US dollars and Business at 900 US dollars per month, billed annually.
  • Dash plans start at 99 euros or 79 pounds per month.
  • Extensis Portfolio publishes on-premise bundles from 5,995 US dollars per year.
  • OpenText's UK G-Cloud 15 price list gives 240 pounds per standard user per year, on a 3-year term with a 50-user minimum.
  • Pimcore lists Professional at 9,900 US dollars and Enterprise at 29,900 US dollars per year on-premises.

Several more vendors publish partial prices. Tenovos lists its DAM on AWS Marketplace at 75,000 US dollars per 12 months, and censhare lists a 36-month PIM and DAM contract there at 800,000 US dollars. Orange Logic lists a 36-month Orange DAM contract there at 600,000 US dollars, and Canto a 12-month package with 2 TB and 5 Power Users at 25,000 US dollars. Cloudinary publishes credit-based plans for Programmable Media and quotes its Assets DAM.

Three vendors publish limits without prices. Acquia DAM lists users, storage and API calls per tier, Lytho lists core users and storage per plan, and Salsify publishes an entitlement guide with storage and bandwidth caps. Pimcore Community and ResourceSpace are free software, with paid editions or hosting on top.

Price drivers differ: Bynder names users, storage and usage, Frontify bills on monthly active users, and Air meters storage and AI from one credit pool. Dash prices on storage and monthly downloads, and Sitecore states that AI in its DAM carries no token or seat charge. DAMSelection assessment: storage, egress and AI credit consumption drive five-year DAM cost more than licence fees. The DAM pricing index tracks the archetypes.

PIM connectors

Most documented PIM connectors come from someone other than the DAM vendor. The DAMSelection Fit Map holds 43 connector cells across six PIM systems, and DAM vendors built 9 of them alone.

Connector builderFit Map cellsLevel

PIM vendor64
DAM vendor94
DAM and PIM vendor together14

Stibo Systems built five of the six PIM-vendor connectors, those for Aprimo, Bynder, Canto, Celum and Cloudinary. Every Bynder connector for Akeneo, Salsify, inRiver and Syndigo comes from a partner. Aprimo, Brandfolder and Frontify each build their own Salsify connector. Syndigo and Cloudinary co-developed the one joint connector, and a search of Syncforce and DAM vendor pages on 15 October 2026 found no DAM connector for Syncforce. Salsify, Pimcore and censhare store assets in the same platform as product records, so they need no DAM-to-PIM connector.

DAMSelection assessment: ask who maintains a partner connector and on what support terms before you score PIM integration depth.

Frequently asked

How many DAM vendors does the DAMSelection list?

DAMSelection lists 30 DAM vendors in five segments. Brand and marketing DAM is the largest segment with 11 vendors, and open source the smallest with one. As of 15 October 2026, all 30 vendors have a dated facts file, and 16 fill all six core Passport fields.

Which DAM vendors publish their prices?

Air, Dash, Extensis Portfolio, OpenText and Pimcore publish list prices, the OpenText list on UK G-Cloud 15. Tenovos, censhare, Canto and Orange Logic show one AWS Marketplace price each, and Cloudinary prices Programmable Media but quotes its Assets DAM. Acquia DAM, Lytho and Salsify publish plan limits without prices. Pimcore Community and ResourceSpace are free software. The other vendors quote per buyer.

Which DAM vendors offer EU-only hosting?

Bynder offers an EU-only option in Frankfurt, and Wedia states EU-only hosting on AWS and Azure. Dash hosts only in AWS EU (Ireland), with backups in Stockholm. Celum hosts in Amsterdam by default, Papirfly in Sweden and Keepeek on a French private cloud. Check each profile for the source and date.

Do vendors pay to appear in the directory?

Vendors do not pay to appear. The DAMSelection vendor record has no sponsorship field, the site carries no affiliate links, and no vendor buys placement on a shortlist. Candidates join a shortlist on segment fit and documented evidence.

What does Not verified mean on a vendor profile?

Not verified means DAMSelection found no primary source for that field on the verification date. The field stays empty until a source is found, and DAMSelection never fills it from memory or vendor sales material.
