Vendor profile

Lytho DAM review: fit, pricing model and integrations

Short answer

Lytho is a creative operations platform that combines creative workflow, online proofing, DAM and a Brand Center for in-house marketing and creative teams. Lytho publishes plan limits of 10, 25 or unlimited core users and 500 GB to 5 TB of storage. Lytho fits best when review and approval drive the DAM decision and no packaged PIM connector is required.

Facts on this page are verified against vendor documentation and public sources, each linked. Scenario scores publish after the scripted demo round.

What Lytho is

Lytho is a SaaS platform from Lytho Inc., with a US office in Holly Springs, North Carolina, and an office in Amsterdam. The company began as inMotionNow, a creative workflow and proofing vendor, and took the Lytho name in October 2021.

The Lytho name came from Lytho BV, a Dutch DAM vendor that inMotionNow joined forces with in April 2021. The product history explains why Lytho reads as a workflow tool with a DAM attached.

Where Lytho fits

Lytho fits the DAMSelection segment of brand and marketing DAM: teams that need fast adoption, brand portals and guideline management. DAMSelection keeps Lytho there because its plans bundle request intake, proofing, DAM and Brand Center for marketing and creative teams.

DAMSelection assessment: Lytho suits a buyer with these conditions.

  • An in-house creative team of 10 to 25 core users that runs requests, proofs and approvals in one tool today or wants to.
  • A regulated or brand-sensitive marketer that needs AI checks against brand and compliance rules before human approval.
  • A team whose library fits within 500 GB to 5 TB and grows slowly.

DAMSelection assessment: another segment fits better when product content flows from a PIM to many channels, when the library holds hundreds of thousands of assets, or when video delivery drives the choice. Read the Frontify vs Lytho comparison, the agency shortlist and the mid-market marketing team shortlist. The DAM vs MRM guide explains where creative workflow ends and asset management begins.

How Lytho covers the core DAM jobs

Lytho documents its deepest capability in workflow and review, with DAM functions that are documented at a lighter level of detail.

  • Ingest and renditions: intake, workflow and approvals connect to the DAM, so governance happens before an asset is stored. Upload mechanics, renditions and formats are not documented on the DAM page.
  • Metadata and search: AI applies the customer taxonomy, writes descriptions and creates alt text. AI search finds assets by meaning and handles synonyms, typos and incomplete metadata.
  • Workflow and rights: online proofing, workflow stages and workflow templates are unlimited on every plan. Expiration dates and rights controls archive or flag expired assets without deleting the record.
  • Distribution and sharing: role-based permissions cover regional teams, agencies and partners.

Product content and PIM integration

Lytho lists no packaged PIM connector on its integrations page, and the DAM page states that the Lytho API connects to PIM systems. The API is included on all plans with rate limits.

The PIM and DAM Fit Map holds no Lytho connector cell. Any Akeneo, Salsify or inriver link is a build on the API or through Zapier. The DAM integrations guide sets out the patterns.

DAMSelection assessment: a buyer with a PIM should ask Lytho to show a running PIM integration at a reference customer before the shortlist closes. Budget the build and its maintenance as a separate line.

Hosting, security and contract checks

Lytho runs as cloud SaaS, and its privacy policy states that its hosting servers are located in the Netherlands.

Lytho's public pages name no cloud provider, no product hosting regions and no certification. The Trust Center runs on HyperComply, so request its documents directly. Confirm these points in contract:

  • The cloud provider and region for product data and backups, and whether the Netherlands statement covers the product.
  • SOC 2 or ISO/IEC 27001 status, with the report period or certificate expiry.
  • The AI sub-processors and model providers, and where AI review and tagging run.
  • The contract entity, Lytho Inc. or a Dutch entity, for an EU buyer.

The security review guide and the data residency glossary entry define the evidence to request.

What to test in a scripted demo

A Lytho demo should prove the workflow-to-DAM handover, the AI reviewers and the API on your own assets. Use the DAM demo script and run these tests.

  1. Submit one creative request through intake, route it through two proof rounds and show the approved file land in the DAM with its metadata.
  2. Run an AI Reviewer on three of our assets against our brand guidelines and show the issues, suggested fixes and audit trail.
  3. Upload 200 of our images and show AI tags, descriptions and alt text against our taxonomy.
  4. Search with five plain-language queries containing typos and count relevant results in the top 20.
  5. Set an expiry date on a licensed image and show it archived or flagged after expiry.
  6. Push one asset and its metadata to our PIM sandbox through the Lytho API.
  7. Show a DivvyHQ or Planner calendar item linked to a Lytho project and its assets.

Pricing questions to ask

Lytho publishes plan limits without prices and customises pricing to each organisation, so the quote decides the five-year cost. Core users, storage and AI volume set the tier. Model the quote in the TCO calculator.

PlanCore usersStorageAI Reviewers
Standard10500 GB6,000 reviews a year
Professional252 TB30,000 reviews a year
EnterpriseUnlimited5 TBAI DAM Bundle for up to 25,000 assets
  • The price of 10K add-on blocks for AI reviews, and whether unused reviews roll over.
  • The price of the AI DAM Bundle on Standard and Professional, and of AI Insights.
  • The price per extra terabyte above the plan allowance.
  • Separate prices for Tempo, LinkSync for InDesign and the Chrome Extension.
  • The scoped professional services fee for implementation.

Worked example: a team of 12 core users exceeds Standard and moves to Professional. Ask for both quotes, because the step also changes storage and AI review volume.
