Vendor corrections and right of reply

Short answer

Vendors and readers can request a factual correction to any DAMSelection page through the public corrections form. DAMSelection checks each request against a primary source within ten working days, logs accepted corrections with their date, and updates the page and its Last verified date. Scores change only through the evidence rules of the scoring model.

How to request a correction

A DAMSelection correction request needs four pieces of information, and the form on this page collects them.

  1. The page URL where the statement appears.
  2. The exact statement to correct, quoted as it appears.
  3. The corrected fact, written as one or two sentences.
  4. A primary source that supports the corrected fact, with its URL.

Add an email address so DAMSelection can reply. A request without a primary source gets an answer, but the page does not change. Vendors should send requests from a company address, which speeds up the check of who is asking.

What counts as a primary source

DAMSelection accepts the same sources for corrections as for research, listed on the methodology page.

Accepted as a primary sourceAccepted only as a lead
Public product documentation or a trust centre pageA sales deck or a private email
A certificate from the issuing bodyA review site entry
An official press release with a dateA third-party news article
A legal entity record or annual reportA social media post
An official EU or regulator page for regulatory factsA partner's description of the product

A lead can start a check, and DAMSelection then looks for the primary source itself. If no primary source exists, the field shows "Not verified" until one appears.

What happens after you submit

DAMSelection handles every request in the same five stages.

StageWhat DAMSelection doesTiming
1. ReceiptLogs the request internally with its dateOn arrival
2. CheckCompares the statement with the primary sourceWithin ten working days
3. DecisionAccepts, accepts in part, or declines with a reasonWithin ten working days
4. UpdateChanges the page, its Last verified date and the public logOn acceptance
5. ReplyTells the requester what changed and whyWith the decision

A request that needs a scripted demo, such as a new capability with no public documentation, takes longer. DAMSelection tells the requester the expected date at stage 3.

What changes and what does not

DAMSelection corrections change facts, and only new evidence changes assessments and scores.

  • Passport fields change when a primary source supports the new value.
  • Ratings change when new evidence meets the evidence rules of the scoring model.
  • Each profile keeps three strengths and three watch-outs. A sourced watch-out stays until a newer primary source shows the issue is resolved.
  • Vendor Pulse items stay as published with their date. A correction adds a dated note to the item.

The neutrality policy rules out any commercial route around these rules.

Right of reply for vendors

DAMSelection right of reply gives every vendor two routes: correct a fact, or ask for a re-review of an assessment with new evidence.

A re-review follows the scoring model's evidence rules. If the evidence needs a demo, DAMSelection schedules a scripted demo with the same script the other vendors in that scenario received. The outcome, changed or unchanged, enters the log with its date. Every profile in the vendor directory links to this page.

The corrections log

The DAMSelection corrections log on this page lists every accepted correction with its date, the page and the change made.

Declined requests receive a private reply with the reason and stay out of the public log. The log also records corrections to datasets such as the DAM Market Map, because reused data needs a visible history.

Reporting other problems

DAMSelection uses the same form for problems other than vendor facts.

  • A broken link or an outdated source on any page
  • A Vendor Pulse item with a wrong date or vendor name, listed in the Vendor Pulse archive
  • A calculation error in a tool such as the Five-year DAM TCO Calculator
  • A regulatory date that differs from the official EU text

Frequently asked

How do I correct wrong information about my company on DAMSelection?

Submit the corrections form with the page URL, the statement to correct, the corrected fact and a primary source such as product documentation or an official press release. DAMSelection checks the source within ten working days. Accepted corrections update the page, its Last verified date and the public corrections log.

How long does a DAMSelection correction take?

DAMSelection checks every correction request against its primary source within ten working days. A request that needs a scripted demo takes longer, and DAMSelection states the expected date in its decision. Accepted corrections go live on the page and in the public log when the decision is made.

Can a vendor change its score through a correction?

A correction changes facts, and only new evidence changes a score. A vendor that disputes a rating can submit documentation or request a scripted demo. DAMSelection reviews that evidence against the scoring model's rules and logs the outcome with its date, whether the rating changes or not.

Will DAMSelection remove a watch-out from a vendor profile?

DAMSelection keeps a sourced watch-out until a newer primary source shows the issue is resolved, such as documentation of a new hosting region. Each profile keeps three strengths and three watch-outs of equal depth. A vendor request alone never removes a watch-out.

Who reviews correction requests?

The DAMSelection authors review correction requests: Stephan Spijkers, founder of PIMvendors, and Chris Jobse, consultant and partner. Each decision records who checked it, against which source and on which date. A request from a vendor with a disclosed commercial relationship follows exactly the same rules.
