The DAM Market Map

Short answer

The DAM Market Map places 30 DAM vendors in five DAMSelection segments: enterprise content platforms, brand and marketing DAM, product content and commerce, European specialists and open source. It records ownership, headquarters and analyst recognition per vendor, updates every quarter, and is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 as a CSV or JSON download.

Facts on this page are verified against vendor documentation and public sources, each linked. Scenario scores publish after the scripted demo round.

Star marks a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Digital Asset Management Systems, Q1 2026. Segments are the DAMSelection classification.

What the Market Map shows

The DAM Market Map shows which of the 30 tracked vendors compete in each segment, who owns them and where they are based.

The map and the data table on this page draw on the same vendor records as the vendor directory. A field shows "Not verified" until DAMSelection finds a primary source for it. Segment, ownership and headquarters predict pricing model, implementation effort and integration depth better than a feature list. That is a DAMSelection assessment from PIMvendors selection practice.

Method

The DAM Market Map follows three steps: inclusion, classification and verification.

  1. Inclusion: a vendor enters the map when it sells a documented DAM product to European mid-market or enterprise buyers and appears in buyer demand from PIMvendors projects or search data.
  2. Classification: each vendor sits in one segment, chosen by its primary buyer and product design. The guide to types of DAM systems explains the segments.
  3. Verification: ownership and headquarters come from primary sources such as legal entity records, annual reports and official press releases, each with a verification date.

A vendor that fits two segments sits in the one its own documentation targets first. Research agents can suggest a different segment, and the editor records the reason.

Segments

The DAM Market Map uses five segments, each defined by the buyer it serves best.

SegmentServes best
Enterprise content platformsGlobal organisations with many brands, regions, integrations and content operations needs
Brand and marketing DAMMarketing and brand teams that need fast adoption, brand portals and guideline management
Product content, packaging and commerceProduct content, packaging artwork, e-commerce imagery and tight PIM integration
European specialistsBuyers who weigh data residency, local support and industries such as publishing
Open sourceTeams that prefer no licence fee and accept responsibility for hosting and implementation

Fields in the dataset

The DAM Market Map dataset holds five fields per vendor, and the JSON file adds four fields of dataset metadata.

The JSON download adds licence, credit, the as-of date and the source for the Leader flag. Fact: The Forrester Wave for Digital Asset Management Systems, Q1 2026, named Adobe, Aprimo, Bynder, OpenText and Orange Logic as Leaders.

Ownership changes the map tracks

The DAM Market Map records acquisitions, divestments and product moves within one quarter of the announcement.

Fact: on 9 March 2026, Axle AI announced that it had acquired Extensis Portfolio. The product keeps the Portfolio brand and moves to a new division, Portfolio DAM, LLC. The map records the new owner from the announcement date, with the press release as source. Changes between quarterly versions also appear in Vendor Pulse.

Download and licence

The DAM Market Map downloads as a CSV file and a JSON file, both under CC BY 4.0.

CC BY 4.0 allows copying, sharing and adapting, including for commercial use. Credit "DAMSelection.com", link to this page and to the licence, and state any changes. Vendor names are facts; vendor logos and trademarks stay with their owners.

How to cite the Market Map

The DAM Market Map citation names the dataset, the quarter and the licence.

Worked example: DAMSelection.com (2026). The DAM Market Map, version 2026-Q4. https://damselection.com/research/market-map/. Licence: CC BY 4.0.

Update cadence and versions

The DAM Market Map updates every quarter, and each version carries its as-of date in the JSON file.

An ownership change triggers an update of the affected vendor record before the next quarterly version. Corrections follow the corrections process and appear in its public log. The DAM Pricing Index follows the same quarterly rhythm.
