DAM research and data

Short answer

DAMSelection research publishes three open datasets on the DAM market and one monthly briefing: the quarterly Market Map of 30 vendors, the quarterly DAM Pricing Index, the annual State of DAM Selection survey and the monthly Vendor Pulse. All DAMSelection charts and data are free to reuse under CC BY 4.0, with credit to DAMSelection.com.

What DAMSelection research publishes

DAMSelection research covers four outputs, each with its own cadence and publication status.

OutputWhat it holdsCadenceStatus
The DAM Market Map30 vendors by segment, ownership, headquarters and analyst recognitionQuarterlyLive, with fields marked Not verified until checked
The DAM Pricing IndexObserved price ranges by pricing archetype and company sizeQuarterlyCollecting quotes; cells publish at five quotes
State of DAM SelectionBuyer survey on selection duration, criteria and outcomesAnnualFirst edition planned for Q2 2027
Vendor PulseDated, sourced DAM market newsMonthlyLive since October 2026

Each output states its method, its sample and its date on its own page. No output publishes a figure without a source or a stated sample size.

How DAMSelection research sources its data

DAMSelection research uses primary sources for facts and minimum sample sizes for anything statistical.

  • Vendor facts come from vendor documentation, certificates, official press releases and legal records, each with a verification date.
  • Price data comes from anonymised quotes in PIMvendors engagements and from buyer submissions. A cell stays suppressed below five quotes.
  • Survey data comes from buyers involved in a DAM selection in the previous 24 months.
  • News items come from pages the editors opened, each dated. Figures from vendor press releases carry the label "company-reported".

The methodology page describes the source tiers and the claim labels in full.

Licence and reuse

All DAMSelection research data and charts are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, known as CC BY 4.0.

CC BY 4.0 allows anyone to copy, share and adapt the data, including for commercial use. Three conditions apply.

  1. Credit "DAMSelection.com" and link to the source page.
  2. Link to the CC BY 4.0 licence.
  3. State whether you changed the data, such as filtering vendors or recalculating ranges.

The credit must not suggest that PIMvendors endorses the reuse. Vendor logos and trademarks stay with their owners and fall outside the licence.

How to cite DAMSelection research

DAMSelection research uses one citation format for every dataset, with the version taken from the as-of date on the page.

Format: DAMSelection.com (year). Dataset name, version. URL. Licence: CC BY 4.0.

Worked example: DAMSelection.com (2026). The DAM Market Map, version 2026-Q4. https://damselection.com/research/market-map/. Licence: CC BY 4.0.

The Market Map also downloads as a CSV file and a JSON file. The JSON file states the licence, the credit line and the as-of date.

How to contribute

DAMSelection research improves through three kinds of contribution, each with a defined route.

ContributionRoute
An anonymised DAM quoteThe submission section of the DAM Pricing Index
A factual correction to any datasetThe corrections process, with a primary source
A news item for Vendor PulseThe corrections form, with the primary source and the date

Contributors get no placement, score or ranking in return. The neutrality rules apply to research exactly as to vendor pages.

How research connects to the selection tools

DAMSelection research supplies the reference data that the DAMSelection tools and guides use.

  • The Market Map sets the vendor list and segments for the DAM Shortlist Engine.
  • The Pricing Index gives context for the Five-year DAM TCO Calculator, once cells publish.
  • Vendor Pulse flags ownership changes, renames and end-of-life notices that affect profiles and renewals.

Frequently asked

Is the DAMSelection data free to use?

The DAMSelection data is free to use under CC BY 4.0, including for commercial work such as reports and client presentations. Credit "DAMSelection.com", link to the source page and the licence, and state any changes you made. Vendor logos and trademarks fall outside the licence.

How big is the DAM market?

DAMSelection does not publish a market size estimate, because no public source splits vendor revenue in a way DAMSelection can verify. The Market Map tracks the 30 vendors European buyers shortlist most, by segment and ownership. Market size figures from research firms vary with their definition of DAM.

Where can I find DAM vendor news?

Vendor Pulse is the monthly DAM market briefing from DAMSelection. Each issue records releases, acquisitions, analyst reports, price changes and end-of-life notices across the 30 tracked vendors. Every item carries its date and a source the editors opened, and the archive starts with October 2026.

How do I cite the DAM Market Map?

Cite the DAM Market Map as: DAMSelection.com (year). The DAM Market Map, version with its quarter. The page URL. Licence: CC BY 4.0. Take the version from the as-of date on the page or in the JSON download, so readers can match your figures to the data.

Who funds DAMSelection research?

PIMvendors funds DAMSelection research from its advisory revenue, which buying organisations pay. No vendor funds a dataset, a survey or a news item, and the vendor data model has no sponsorship field. Any commercial relationship with a DAM vendor appears in the disclosure register of the neutrality policy.
