Short answer
Air is a creative operations and DAM platform from Air Labs, Inc. in Brooklyn, New York, built for brand, creative and content teams that share, review and edit visual assets. Air fits small and mid-sized teams that want published pricing and unlimited seats: Starter lists at 25 US dollars per month billed annually, per an Air page updated in August 2026.
Facts on this page are verified against vendor documentation and public sources, each linked. Scenario scores publish after the scripted demo round.
What Air is
Air is a cloud workspace that stores creative assets, organises them with AI and custom fields, and adds review, sharing and AI editing in one product. Air's pricing table groups the product into eight areas. These are users and permissions, find and organise, store and deliver, review and collaborate, edit and create, AI and intelligence, automate and integrate, and security and admin.
Three parts of the product stand out in the documentation.
- Canvas is Air's AI editing space, with image editing, image creation, image-to-video and smart resize, using more than 50 models.
- Context stores brand kits and guideline files that Canvas uses when it generates or edits content.
- Air Flow syncs assets to the desktop on macOS and Windows, next to a mobile app and a Chrome extension.
Air releases features often: its public changelog records the Contentful integration on 21 September, Extend video on 29 September and the workspace agent on 13 October 2026.
Where Air fits
Air fits creative and marketing teams that want a fast start, many collaborators and a predictable seat cost. DAMSelection places Air in the brand and marketing DAM segment.
DAMSelection assessment: Air suits these buyer conditions.
- A team of 5 to 100 people shares work with agencies, freelancers and reviewers.
- The team works mostly in images and video for social, web and campaigns.
- The buyer wants a free plan or a self-serve start before a sales process.
- Seat growth would make per-user pricing expensive.
DAMSelection assessment: another segment fits better in three cases. A buyer that needs EU data residency or local support should read the European specialists. A buyer that links assets to SKUs from a PIM should compare product content platforms. A buyer with many brands, regions and integrations should compare enterprise content platforms. The Air vs Dash comparison covers a second option for smaller teams.
How Air covers the core DAM jobs
Air documents features for all four core DAM jobs, with its deepest coverage in review and AI editing. The table lists the capability rows Air publishes on its pricing page, grouped by job.
| DAM job | What Air lists |
|---|---|
| Ingest and renditions | Air Flow desktop sync, Chrome extension, imports from 23 sources, proxy videos, smart resize in Canvas |
| Metadata and search | Custom fields, conversational search, duplicate detection, version stacking, image and video intelligence, OCR, IPTC |
| Workflow and rights | Commenting and annotation, timestamp comments on video, Compare Mode for versions, automated content expiration |
| Distribution and sharing | Share links with passcode, expiry and email gating, CDN links, Shopify, WordPress, Sanity and Contentful connectors |
Two limits shape the fit. Plan placement matters: the upgrade guide puts Public API access on Business and SAML SSO on Enterprise. Rights handling appears as automated content expiration, and DAMSelection found no documented fields for licence terms, territories or model releases. Test rights management needs in the demo.
Air's changelog records AI features as released. The workspace agent for bulk tagging, renaming and board edits shipped on 13 October 2026. Extend video in Canvas shipped on 29 September 2026.
Product content and PIM integration
Air lists no PIM connectors on its integrations page as of 14 October 2026. Product content flows run through Shopify, the Public API, the MCP server or automation tools such as Zapier, n8n and Make.
DAMSelection assessment: a team that keeps product data in a PIM should plan an API or automation integration and budget for it. The Business plan is the entry point for Public API access. Check the integration pattern in the PIM and DAM Fit Map before shortlisting Air for product content.
Hosting, security and contract checks
Air states SOC 2 Type 2 with an annual independent audit of security, availability and confidentiality controls, plus CASA Tier 2 and GDPR compliance.
Air documents less about where data lives. The security page names AWS S3 for media assets and replicates encrypted database backups across multiple AWS regions. The terms are governed by New York law. Neither page names a storage region or a mechanism for EU data transfers.
Confirm these points in contract, using the security review guide.
- The AWS regions for files, backups and AI processing.
- A DPA with Standard Contractual Clauses for EU personal data.
- The list of AI providers behind Canvas and the workspace agent.
- The SOC 2 Type II report date and scope.
- Export rights for files, custom fields and comments at exit.
What to test in a scripted demo
An Air demo should prove the credit model, the search claims and the integration path on your own assets. Use the demo script method and send Air these scenarios two weeks ahead.
- Upload 2,000 of your images and 50 videos, then show the credits consumed by storage and by one Canvas session.
- Find a product shot by describing it in plain language, then by OCR text visible in the image.
- Share a review link with passcode, expiry and email gating, and show the comment trail on a video timestamp.
- Set an expiration date on a licensed image and show what users and share-link viewers see after expiry.
- Pull approved assets into your CMS or Shopify store and show the CDN link behaviour.
- Call the Public API to create an asset with custom field values from a sample PIM export.
- Show the workspace agent renaming and tagging 200 assets, with an audit of what changed.
Pricing questions to ask
Air publishes prices for Starter and Business and quotes Enterprise. Seats are unlimited, so cost depends on credits, the plan tier and features locked to higher tiers.
| Plan | Published price | Monthly credits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | No charge listed | 120 |
| Starter | 25 US dollars per month, billed annually | 600 |
| Business | 900 US dollars per month, billed annually | 30,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | From 60,000 |
Source: Air resource page updated 27 August 2026. Extra Credit Packs cost 35 US dollars per month per 1,000 credits, up to 9,000 additional credits a month, so Starter tops out at 9,600 credits, per the Air help centre.
Worked example: a Starter workspace that buys 4,000 extra credits pays 25 plus 140 US dollars per month, 165 in total. Model this in the TCO calculator and ask:
- How many credits does one GB of enriched storage use on your plan.
- How many credits do typical image edits and video generations use.
- What happens to uploads and integrations when credits reach zero mid-month.
- Which features move a team from Business to Enterprise: SSO, video volume or custom permissions.
