Short answer
Adobe AEM Assets and Sitecore Content Hub, now marketed as SitecoreAI DAM, both connect a DAM to their vendor's CMS. Adobe AEM Assets fits buyers who need published hosting regions and certifications, including ISO/IEC 27001:2022. Sitecore Content Hub fits Sitecore CMS customers who want AI included at platform level without token or seat charges, provided the Content Hub certificate scope is confirmed in writing.
Facts on this page are verified against vendor documentation and public sources, each linked. Scenario scores publish after the scripted demo round.
Verdict
DAMSelection assessment: Adobe AEM Assets is the better-documented choice today, and Sitecore Content Hub is the natural candidate for organisations committed to the SitecoreAI platform. Sitecore states certifications at company level and publishes no Content Hub region list or PIM connector, so the Sitecore line carries conditions. The vendor directory lists every profile, and the Sitecore Content Hub alternatives and Adobe AEM Assets vs Aprimo pages cover adjacent choices.
Choose Adobe AEM Assets when:
- Your security review needs certificates before the shortlist: Adobe lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, SOC 2 Type 2 and CSA STAR Level 2.
- The contract must name a European location, as Adobe lists data centres in London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
- Your PIM is inriver or Stibo STEP, where the Fit Map records AEM Assets adapters at levels 4 and 3.
- Designers need Adobe Asset Link inside Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Choose Sitecore Content Hub when:
- Web pages, campaigns and personalisation run on SitecoreAI, where Sitecore activates approved assets.
- AI cost predictability matters, as Sitecore states AI is included at platform level with no token or seat charges.
- You want to buy the DAM standalone first and add SitecoreAI CMS or personalisation later.
Where Adobe AEM Assets and Sitecore Content Hub differ
Adobe AEM Assets and Sitecore Content Hub differ most in how much each vendor documents and in how each charges for AI. The table adds documented differences to the verified facts table on this page.
| Topic | Adobe AEM Assets | Sitecore Content Hub |
|---|---|---|
| Product name | Adobe AEM Assets as a Cloud Service | SitecoreAI DAM, formerly Sitecore Content Hub DAM |
| Platform | Adobe Experience Cloud; AEM as a Cloud Service launched in January 2020 | SitecoreAI, launched in late 2025 |
| Purchase options | Prime and Ultimate tiers, with Dynamic Media and Content Automation as add-ons | Standalone DAM or part of the full SitecoreAI platform |
| AI charging | Several AI features in beta or limited availability need a programme entitlement | AI included at platform level, not charged by token or seat |
| Integrations named | Workfront, Figma, Adobe Express, Creative Cloud, Adobe Commerce, Edge Delivery Services | Open APIs and 57 or more pre-built integrations; documentation names connectors for Contentful, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce and Microsoft OneDrive |
| Other recognition | Leader in The Forrester Wave: Digital Asset Management Systems, Q1 2026 | Best Digital Asset Management System, 14th CMS Critic Awards (vendor-reported, March 2026) |
DAMSelection assessment: the documentation gap is itself a selection factor. A Sitecore Content Hub bid needs written answers on hosting, security and connectors before it can be scored on the same basis.
SitecoreAI DAM and the Content Hub name
Sitecore Content Hub is the earlier name of the product Sitecore now markets as SitecoreAI DAM. The Sitecore product page states that many customers know it as Sitecore Content Hub DAM.
Contracts, documentation and partner material can use either name. Ask Sitecore to state the product name, modules and version in the order form. The DAMSelection directory lists the product as Sitecore Content Hub.
Product content and PIM integration
Adobe AEM Assets has two PIM entries in the PIM and DAM Fit Map, and Sitecore Content Hub has none. Sitecore documents no Akeneo, Salsify, inriver or Stibo STEP connector, only a connector that copies product data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce.
| PIM | Adobe AEM Assets | Sitecore Content Hub |
|---|---|---|
| Akeneo | No AEM Assets app found on the Akeneo App Store | No Fit Map cell |
| inriver | Level 4: AEM Assets Adapter developed by inRiver | No Fit Map cell |
| Salsify | No Fit Map cell | No Fit Map cell |
| Stibo STEP | Level 3: External DAM Adapter, no developer named on the listing | No Fit Map cell |
| Syndigo | No Fit Map cell | No Fit Map cell |
DAMSelection assessment: DAM and PIM form one product content supply chain. Treat Sitecore Content Hub PIM integration as unverified until Sitecore or the PIM vendor shows a listed connector with a named maintainer. The inriver integration page lists the candidates with verified inriver depth.
Hosting and security differences
Adobe AEM Assets publishes its hosting regions and certifications, and Sitecore Content Hub publishes a region choice and company-level certifications without a region list or Content Hub scope.
Adobe lists public cloud data centres in the US, Canada, Europe (London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt), Australia, Japan and Singapore. Adobe provisions the hosting location at contract signing. Additional publish regions apply to AEM Sites and Forms and do not extend to AEM Assets.
Sitecore lets the customer select the hosting region at onboarding, with Microsoft Azure among the supported options. The Sitecore DPA commits to store Customer Data only in that region. Sitecore stated ISO/IEC 27001, 27017 and 27018, CSA STAR, TISAX, PCI DSS v4.0 and IRAP at company level in April 2025, without naming the Content Hub scope.
Request these five items from Sitecore in writing before the shortlist decision:
- The region list and the region for primary data, backups and disaster recovery.
- Confirmation that Content Hub falls within the ISO/IEC 27001 scope, plus the latest SOC 2 report.
- Where AI tagging, visual search and Brand Assistant processing run, with each AI sub-processor.
- The data residency options for a standalone DAM licence.
- The export format for assets, metadata, versions and audit trail at exit.
The security review guide gives the wording for each request.
Pricing model differences
Adobe AEM Assets and Sitecore Content Hub both quote on request, and Sitecore makes the clearer statement on AI cost. Neither vendor publishes prices or tier contents with prices.
- Adobe AEM Assets: Prime or Ultimate tier, licensed by Power, Collaborator and Limited user types. Dynamic Media and Content Automation are add-ons. Prime excludes API-driven automation.
- Sitecore Content Hub: no published prices or tiers, demo request only. Sitecore states AI is included at platform level and not charged by token or seat.
DAMSelection assessment: storage, egress and AI credit consumption drive five-year DAM cost more than licence fees. The Sitecore no-metering statement removes one variable, so get it into the contract wording. Model both quotes in the TCO calculator.
AI capabilities documented for each
Adobe AEM Assets documents shipped AI features in its release notes, and Sitecore Content Hub documents AI features without preview labels. Sitecore states that most of its AI capabilities require Sitecore Stream.
| Status | Adobe AEM Assets | Sitecore Content Hub |
|---|---|---|
| Shipped | Smart Tags; AI-generated title, description and keywords for 13 image formats; C2PA Content Credentials carried to renditions (August 2026); Adobe Express and Firefly variants in Content Hub | AI image tags on Azure OpenAI Service by default, with an optional own-AI connector; visual search for .jpg, .jpeg and .png images; Brand Assistant, smart briefs, content generation, translation and ALT text |
| Described or in beta | Brand Aware Metadata (beta); Content Hub AI Search (limited availability); Smart Collections (beta); AI video captions (limited availability) | None recorded |
| Announced | Discovery, Content Optimization and Governance agents, without a general availability label | Bulk grounded image tagging, listed on the product page without an availability label |
What to test in a scripted demo
Adobe AEM Assets and Sitecore Content Hub separate on six points that a scripted demo on your own assets can prove.
- Run a visual search on 200 of your .jpg and .png images in Sitecore Content Hub without manual tags, then run the same search in Adobe AEM Assets.
- Send an AI-generated image through each system and show whether its C2PA Content Credentials survive on the delivered rendition.
- Show the Sitecore contract clause that excludes AI token or seat charges, and the Adobe entitlement list for each beta feature.
- Run the full flow on a standalone Sitecore DAM licence, without other SitecoreAI products.
- Fetch an approved rendition from your PIM through each API and name the connector owner.
- Activate one approved asset into a live web page through SitecoreAI and through Edge Delivery Services.

Which is more secure, AEM Assets or Sitecore Content Hub?
Adobe publishes ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type 2 and other certifications for Adobe Experience Cloud, which includes AEM as a Cloud Service.
