Short answer
A Syndigo DAM integration links approved files in a DAM to product records in Syndigo, so retailers and channels receive each product with the right images and documents. DAMSelection rates each pairing on four depth levels: 4 native connector, 3 partner connector, 2 documented API pattern and 1 custom build only. On 14 October 2026 two cells were sourced: Cloudinary at level 4 and Bynder at level 3.
Facts on this page are verified against vendor documentation and public sources, each linked. Scenario scores publish after the scripted demo round.
What a Syndigo DAM integration does
A Syndigo DAM integration keeps the master file and its rights in the DAM, and keeps the decision about which product uses that file in Syndigo.
Fact: Syndigo sells a product experience management (PXM) solution and runs a programme of certified technology partners that integrate with it. The DAM owns the original file, its renditions, its descriptive metadata and its usage rights. Syndigo owns product attributes, recipient requirements and the distribution of product content to retailers and channels. The integration carries identifiers, links and a selected set of metadata between the two systems.
The split matters most for brands that supply many retailers from one product record. Each recipient can demand its own image set, file format and naming rule. Without an integration, a content team downloads files from the DAM, uploads them to Syndigo and repeats the work at every reshoot.
DAMSelection assessment: DAM and PIM form one product content supply chain, so buyers agree the shared data model before the first demo. The DAM vs PIM guide sets out the ownership split, and combined PIM and DAM selection covers running both selections at once.
How Syndigo models media
Syndigo models media as typed digital asset records linked to products through named relationships, with a locale and an asset type on each record.
Asset relationships in Syndigo PIM
Facts from Syndigo's documentation on syndicating assets from PIM:
- Fact: four relationship types link assets to products: hasimages, hasvideos, hasdocuments and hasaudios.
- Fact: each asset type carries two mapped attributes, syndigoInternalAssetLocale and a type attribute such as syndigoInternalImageType.
- Fact: attribute and asset type names must match Syndigo's table exactly, or syndication fails.
- Fact: those attributes must be set as syndicatable before assets flow to syndication.
The page sits in a beta documentation space, so buyers confirm it against their own Syndigo release.
Assets on the product in the Syndigo cloud
Fact: Syndigo's product cloud documentation shows assets on an Assets tab of each product page. Each asset must have a unique combination of Image Type and Asset Locale. An asset comes either from the brand or from the Syndigo Marketplace, and a Source column shows which.
Fact: a user replaces a marketplace asset by picking a brand asset from the Digital Assets tab or by uploading a file. Where a brand asset already exists for the same type and locale, the marketplace asset appears only as a suggestion.
Media apps in the Syndigo App Marketplace
Fact: Syndigo's App Marketplace catalogue of August 2026 states its apps are developed and supported by Syndigo. Three apps handle media:
- Sharedien DAM App, in the Enterprise Integration group.
- Advanced Digital Asset Management App, in the Experiences group.
- Scene7 App, which syndicates assets to Adobe Dynamic Media Classic, formerly Scene7.
Fact: the Adobe Dynamic Media Classic connector factsheet says the app publishes assets from Syndigo to Scene7 in batches and syncs metadata between Syndigo and Scene7. Private Apps for one customer can be built by the customer, by Syndigo or by Certified Partners.
Two points stay open after the documentation review: whether a Syndigo asset record holds a stored file or a URL, and how long Syndigo keeps a copy after a DAM deletion. The metadata mapping guide gives a template for recording the answers.
Which integration pattern fits Syndigo
Syndigo's typed asset model favours the push pattern, in which the DAM creates or updates a Syndigo asset record with type, locale and product link when an asset is approved.
| Pattern | How it works | Fit with Syndigo |
|---|---|---|
| DAM pushes | The DAM sends approved files or links to Syndigo, which creates typed asset records on hasimages and related relationships | Strong fit: syndication needs the asset record, type and locale on the product before a recipient receives it |
| PIM references by ID | Syndigo stores a DAM asset ID or URL and shows a preview | Documented in part: the Bynder-Syndigo Connector brings previews and Bynder URLs back to Syndigo |
| Shared delivery layer | Both systems point to renditions on one delivery URL or image CDN | Documented for Adobe Dynamic Media Classic: Syndigo pushes assets out to Scene7 |
DAMSelection assessment: the push pattern suits a syndication platform because each retailer feed reads the asset type and locale from the Syndigo record. A reference pattern suits buyers who want one master file, and it creates a dependency on DAM URLs that stay valid for years. A Private App built for one customer by a Certified Partner counts as a custom build for scoring.
The DAM integrations guide compares the patterns in more detail.
What the integration must keep in sync
A Syndigo DAM integration must keep five things aligned: renditions, metadata, the asset-to-product link, rights expiry and deletions.
| Item | What must happen | What to ask the vendors |
|---|---|---|
| Renditions | The channel-ready rendition reaches the right image type in Syndigo | Which rendition sizes and formats each recipient needs, and which system generates them |
| Metadata | Each field has one owner and one direction, including asset locale and asset type | Which fields flow from Syndigo to the DAM, and which flow back |
| Asset-to-product link | The identifier matches exactly, and a renamed or replaced asset keeps its link | Which identifier the connector matches on, and what happens on a mismatch |
| Rights expiry | An expired asset leaves every channel on the expiry date | Whether expiry triggers removal in Syndigo and a withdrawal from recipients |
| Deletions | A deleted DAM asset leaves Syndigo, or a person decides what happens | Whether deletion is automatic, flagged or ignored |
Rights expiry is the item most likely to fail silently, because a syndicated image can stay live at a retailer after the DAM marks it expired. The rights management guide explains the licence exposure.
Worked example: a brand with 8,000 SKUs and 6 images per SKU manages 48,000 asset-to-product links. An identifier error rate of 2% leaves 960 links unmatched at the first sync. Each image also needs a unique type and locale pair, so duplicate pairs need cleanup before go-live.
How to read the Syndigo depth table
The Syndigo depth table holds two sourced cells on 14 October 2026: Cloudinary at level 4 and Bynder at level 3.
| Level | Meaning | Vendors found for Syndigo |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | Connector built and maintained by the DAM or PIM vendor | Cloudinary |
| 3 | Partner connector listed on a marketplace or partner page | Bynder |
| 2 | Documented API pattern or guide, no packaged connector | None found |
| 1 | Custom build only, with explicit evidence | None found |
Fact: Syndigo's factsheet for the Cloudinary Advanced DAM app says Syndigo and Cloudinary developed it together. Cloudinary's documentation states that Cloudinary reviewed the integration and does not maintain it, and that buyers get the app through Syndigo sales and support. The app opens the Cloudinary Media Library inside Syndigo for upload, metadata, cropping, resizing and variants.
Fact: brix Solutions AG lists a Bynder-Syndigo Connector on its own extensions page. The connector sends configurable product metadata from Syndigo to the matching Bynder assets. It returns preview images and Bynder delivery URLs to Syndigo.
Fact: Syndigo's technology partner directory lists Aprimo and Cloudinary among 12 partners on first load. The Aprimo listing describes no connector, and the Aprimo Marketplace lists no Syndigo integration, so the Aprimo cell stays empty. DAMSelection did not map the Scene7 App to a DAM vendor in the grid, because Adobe Dynamic Media Classic is a separate product from Adobe AEM Assets.
Every DAM vendor without a cell shows "Not verified". The full grid sits in the PIM and DAM Fit Map, and the DAM integrations by platform index links every PIM page.
What to test in a Syndigo DAM demo
A Syndigo DAM demo proves the integration on your own products and assets, with Syndigo and the DAM open side by side.
- Load 50 product images from your DAM export, each tagged with a real product identifier, and show them on the hasimages relationship with the right image type and locale.
- Replace one image with a new version and time how long Syndigo takes to show it.
- Rename one asset in the DAM and confirm the Syndigo link survives.
- Set a rights expiry date on one asset to tomorrow, then show what Syndigo and one recipient feed contain after that date.
- Delete one asset in the DAM and show the result in Syndigo, including any manual step.
- Change a product attribute in Syndigo and show it arrive on the DAM asset metadata.
- Sync one image for two locales and show each on the correct locale without a duplicate type and locale pair.
- Show the error log for an asset with a missing or wrong identifier, and who receives the alert.
Script these steps in the demo script and repeat them during integration testing before go-live.
Common failure points
Syndigo DAM integrations fail most often on identifiers, asset type mapping and lifecycle events after syndication.
- Identifiers typed by hand in the DAM, with spaces, leading zeros or retired GTINs, so assets never match a product.
- Asset type or locale values that do not match Syndigo's required names, so syndication rejects the asset.
- Two systems writing the same field, so values flip back and forth at every sync.
- Expired images that stay live at retailers because the connector only handles new approvals.
- Deleted DAM assets that remain in Syndigo, with nobody assigned to clean up.
- A Private App built for one project, with no owner once the implementation partner leaves.

Frequently asked
Does Syndigo have a DAM connector?
Syndigo sells a Cloudinary Advanced DAM app, developed with Cloudinary and supported by Syndigo, and a Sharedien DAM App. Partner brix Solutions AG offers a Bynder-Syndigo Connector. Ask each shortlisted DAM vendor for the listing URL and the builder, and score the answer on the four-level scale.
How does Syndigo store product images?
Syndigo links assets to products through relationships such as hasimages and hasdocuments. Each asset carries an asset locale and an asset type, and each product needs a unique type and locale pair per asset. Brand assets can replace Syndigo Marketplace assets on the product's Assets tab.
Do I need a separate DAM if Syndigo handles product media?
A separate DAM pays off when you hold rights data, source files and non-product assets such as campaign and brand material. Syndigo positions its platform across PIM, DAM and MDM. DAMSelection assessment: confirm in the demo which rights, approval and archive functions Syndigo covers for your catalogue before you decide.
How long does a Syndigo DAM integration take?
DAMSelection rule of thumb: a packaged connector with clean product identifiers takes 4 to 8 weeks from configuration to go-live. A Private App or custom build takes longer, because design and testing start from zero. Identifier and asset type cleanup often takes longer than the connector setup.
Is Aprimo integrated with Syndigo?
Syndigo lists Aprimo as a technology partner. On 14 October 2026 DAMSelection found no packaged connector for the pair on the Syndigo app catalogue or the Aprimo Marketplace, so the Fit Map shows no Aprimo cell. Ask Aprimo for a listing URL and the builder before scoring.
